'Open Day' .... Rocks 'n Rolls!

Opening its doors to one and all, Sunday’s Open Day saw us  welcome over 400 visitors. It was a great response to the good work done throughout the club in promoting such an event, probably a first of its kind and surely the way forward in providing such a positive experience for visitors to enjoy a first bowls experience.  Playing to the music of Queen’s we are the champions and other stirring pieces it all made for a lively time.   Word has it the EBA are planning a week of similar events!

Camberley leading the way then…….!!

At noon we saw a rush for the ‘bowls taster’ experience with
members helping those new to bowls to ‘give it a try’ and already
some are keen for more!

Ken Simpson’s daughter Colleen …….. Looking a natural!

Helen Francis helping with the stars of the future!

With Grandad Barry Martin and Dad, Kevin Wiggins top bowlers in their own right we see Kevin's daughters, Chloe [middle] and Lauren [right] enjoying a moment on the green. With the objective of the day to open the doors to the public it was pleasing to welcome some 287 visitors to Camberley Indoor Bowling Club.

With the Kitchen and Bar doing stirling work and the Social Team running an amazing Cake/Raffle & Bottle stall it all made for a colourful and interesting day

…...yes those eggs went down very well I’m sure !

Maureen Hill [Wey Valley] won the ‘visitor draw’ and a bottle of bubbly is winging its way to Maureen. Also a thank you to the Wey Valley players & members who came to support the day.  Planned as a day to promote bowls into the community it was important to broaden the opportunity for other clubs to feel part of the day and our thanks to Wey Valley for this support.

We also thank the following outdoor clubs who ‘took a table’ and were on hand to promote their outdoor bowling activities.
Cove / Hawley / Watchett / Camberley.

If your thinking of giving bowls a try this summer then the above clubs are able to help get you started.

Oh yes, the small matter of the competitions…..

Winners of the ‘Kingsclear’ Challenge Shield were the 'Star Team'

Sue Allen manager of Kingsclear Residential Homes presenting the Shield to:

Andy Thomson,

Carol Ashby &

Robert Newman.
